Goodies Review cinco- Ananda Bhavan Restaurant
Me and my girlfriend were at Little India yesterday. Saw my eye-candy the 2nd time after I left Poly. He was walking with his GF towards me in clarke quay for the 1st time, this time he was walking towards us in Farrer Park station.
Swee Poh's a vegetarian and it happened that most indian food is vegetarian too. It been a long time since I eat Indian food, still remembered eating at this place called ANB something ( besides Mustafa) with Mel and Wee. It's a nice experienced, we all love the chicken murtabuk. Big portion that could be shared between the 3 of us. Cool! :)
Back to yesterday, Swee Poh brought me to a small restaurant near Mustafa, called Ananda Bhavan Restaurant. Hmmm, it has the same system as Komala's, order and get a queue number. It was about 12.45pm then. Haha...
SP recommended the Bathura. We ordered lime juice (SGD 1.65), bathura (SGD 4) and a south indian set meal (SGD 5.75). Hmmm... Let's see... They charged GST too.
The Bathura was not bad, it was bloated like a ball and when it "burst", it's just like a fried prata.
The bathura taste like you tiao, it's almost the same. The flour thing is complemented with a big green chili and onions, some chickpeas gravy and something else, can't remember. Not bad though it's deep fried.
The Lime juice is nice, not too sour and sweet. Suits me. Haha..
The south indian set meal consists of rice, a prata, 2 "koropok", a vadai, mix veggie in yogurt, another veggie like the mei cai kou rou without the meat and of cos' some curry sauce.
It was filling even though we shared the dishes. The taste get mixed up as you eat, haha... But I believed it's expected when you tried any indian dish. What I could only feel is the spiciness of the curry. It was nice though, however, people who do not always or could not eat spiciness, you wouldn't want to try unless you are ready to go to the toilet. Haha... SP couldn't take it and she have to settle in the toliet. Haha...
I would like to give the lime juice 3.5 hmmms, though it was nice but lime contains citric acid that will corrode the teeth, haha, that's what I learnt from SP.
The Bathura earned 3 hmmms , it was really nice but it got hardened when it's cold.
The south indian set meal got 3 hmmms too, it comes in a big portion, but too much flour made stuff. Sadly there wasn't any meat becos it's a vegetarian restaurant. The set meal get spicier as you eat until a point where you really feel real hot. Phew, I finished them.
Overall, good place for meals if you got this flour craving and thought of going meat-free. :)
